Summer Birthdays and Shaving Cream |
Students with June, July, and August birthdays may dress down. Practice some spelling and math with shaving cream during class. |
Religion |
During our religion time, we will be reviewing different Feast Days and continuing to learn about Mother Mary and the Church. |
Math |
We will be finishing up our measurement chapter by working on measuring lines with a ruler and working on measurement word problems. This is our last unit in math and we will be spending time reviewing 2nd grade math concepts for the rest of the year to prepare for third grade! |
Phonics |
We will finish up unit 16 with au and aw words. There will be no test in order to start working on unit 17. Unit 17 introduces our final syllable type, consonant-le. This syllable is always at the end of a multi syllable word and the syllable only has three letters: a consonant, then the letter l and a silent e. |
Reading/Writing |
We are continuing our Civil Rights lessons and reading books about different Civil Rights leaders and events. |
Science |
In science, we will discuss how new materials are invented. In the activity, Bouncy Glass Inventions, students come up with ideas for inventions that use an exciting futuristic material: glass that bounces and stretches like rubber! |
